Engine Comparison

The 2015 Acura RDX comes in at 273 horsepower whereas the Lexus RX 350 manages to get 270 horsepower. Each has a 3.5 liter, V6 engine.

The Acura RDX uses a Honda VTEC engine that gets an impressive amount of low-end torque thanks to the variable cylinder management system under the hood.

The Lexus RX 350 features a 3.5 liter, V6 engine like the Acura RDX. The Lexus RX 350 gets 248 pounds per foot of torque at 4700 RPM.

Although the mid-size luxury crossover category doesn’t necessarily translate to 0-60 speed, both the Acura RDX and Lexus RX 350 make it up to 60 MPH in eight seconds or less.

Interior Features

The 2015 Acura RDX features automatic climate control, breathable and ergonomic leather seats and leather appointments throughout, and a five-inch color display.

Both front seats on the new Acura RDX are heated and the driver’s seat comes equipped with a ten-position setup that includes a memory function. The front passenger seat, also, has a four-way adjustable setup and memory.

The Acura RDX’s rear seats are foldable, which means that you can store groceries or even camping gear in almost the whole cabin with the rear seats properly folded down. Also, if there are only two rear passengers, they can fold down the middle seat to reveal two armrests and more supple, breathable leather.

Like the Acura, the Lexus RX 350 features a ten-way adjustable, power driver’s seat and heated seats in the front. The steering wheel and shift knob on the Lexus RX 350 come leather-wrapped as well.

Technology Comparison

The five-inch color display that comes with the 2015 Acura RDX controls the Acura’s audio. Everything from the artist to the song and album is displayed on the five-inch color screen conveniently mounted into the RDX’s dash.

Pandora, hands-free Bluetooth and SMS texting are all routed through the display screen. SMS texting allows you to send and receive texts and even emails without taking your attention off the roads. This is an added blessing for parents of young children – your attention is already divided enough as it is!

The Lexus RX 350, on the other hand, offers a Mark Levinson premium audio system, voice command, steering-wheel mounted controls, and an onboard navigation system.

The Acura RDX is outfitted with six airbags, which include two side-curtain airbags. All five seating positions in the 2015 Acura RDX are equipped with three-point seat belts to ensure safety for every passenger.

For parents considering an Acura RDX, the new RDX features airbag sensors and child seat mounts in the back. An occupation position detection system in the front passenger position also determines if the passenger is a certain weight and de/activates an airbag based on that information.

The Acura RDX has already received a stellar safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Lexus RX 350 has a slightly different take on safety and relies on a pre-collision system, backup camera, and blind-spot monitoring system to bolster passenger safety.
