2016 Acura ILX Maintenance Schedule

2016 Acura ILXAt Montgomeryville Acura, we’re proud to assist our customers in Doylestown, Lansdale, and Philadelphia in the operation and maintenance of their vehicles. One way we do this is our maintenance schedules, which provide a quick and easy reference for when you should bring your car in for a checkup and routine maintenance.

The 2016 Acura ILX maintenance schedule is a little different from your average car, so here’s what you need to know.

Maintenance Minder Light System

Cars require regular maintenance, not just service when they develop problems, to help them continue to run with high efficiency and safety. It’s important to get your car checked and serviced on a regular basis. Most cars calculate these checks by mileage or time after purchase of a new car, which requires you to keep track of the time since you bought the car as well as your mileage.

The 2016 Acura ILX takes the guesswork and math out of the timekeeping by programming the Maintenance Minder computer with times and mileage counts and alerting you when your car needs a checkup. At regular intervals, the dashboard will light up with the message Maintenance Due Soon and an alphanumeric code, either A or B plus one or more numbers, to indicate what kind of maintenance is required.

Main Service Items

Every Maintenance Minder warning starts with a letter. The letter A indicates that you should change your engine oil, while B calls for you to change both your engine oil and your oil filter; in addition, your maintenance check should include an inspection of the front and rear brakes, the brake hoses and lines, the parking brake, the exhaust system, the fluid levels and conditions, the steering gearbox and tie-rod ends, the fuel lines and connections, the drive shaft, and all components of the suspension.

Numbered Service Items

automobile maintenanceThe numeric codes accompany the letter codes and indicate other types of maintenance that your 2016 Acura ILX requires. One or more of these codes may appear at the same time; the code A13, for example, indicates the need for maintenance check A and service items 1 and 3. The six service item codes are:

  • 1: Have your tires rotated.
  • 2: Replace your dust and pollen filter and your air cleaner element, and have your drive belt inspected.
  • 3: Replace your transmission fluid.
  • 4: Have your valve clearance inspected and your spark plugs replaced.
  • 5: Replace your engine fluid.

Special Cases and Conditions

The Maintenance Minder doesn’t include a programmed schedule for checking and changing your brake fluid. This has nothing to do with mileage: your brake fluid should be changed at least once every three years.

If your Maintenance Minder doesn’t call for service for more than 12 months after you purchased your 2016 Acura ILX or if it has been a full year since your last service and the Maintenance Minder hasn’t yet lit up, it’s a good idea to take your car for a maintenance check anyway. In addition to the regular service, you should mention to your maintenance provider that the service light hasn’t come on and have the system checked to ensure that it’s still operating.

If you often drive under unusual conditions, your car will require more frequent maintenance checks than the Maintenance Minder will calculate. Have your car serviced more regularly if you often drive on mountainous or rough roads, in areas with high levels of atmospheric soot or dust, in extremely hot weather, or while towing any type of trailer.

Call Montgomeryville Acura today if you would like to schedule a maintenance check in the Philadelphia, Lansdale, or Doylestown areas.
